We grant them life we give them purpose we define their meaning and watch them grow Flowers most perfect blooming at the heart of spells teeth most sharpened exacting each curse We cut their cords we decree their path we slit their throats and bury them deep below Riddles that remain unsolved faint whispers in the void such are the masks of wisdom such is their nature concealed They sing in our ears the songs of wordless victories and of bitter defeats Authored in blood by a hand not my own authored in blood upon the parchment of ash and smoke
Each night at the crossroads my own death I seek there to be hung by the neck until I come alive With nails of seven metals wrought upon the sacred earth I was pinned down so that in dreaming I could go forth through the mirror of the compass round And there I walked ankle-deep in the stygian waters with the fire of the stars in my hair My arteries open pumping out their crimson gold my lips engaged in a song never-ending to exchange aether for god From the uncharted corners of the soul, runs the river of blessings untold May this body be the wax that feeds the flame of our lady on high and this blood the very ink for the verses of her quill's design Thrice crowned thrice cursed son of light the moon on earth
Hail, icon adorned the living mirror prepare the marriage bed for the self and Other In the alembic under the pestle upon the anvil I am transformed I will shed my skin yet keep the scars and the desert will bloom by the boons of the Arte
Be they sung by a nymph in the grove or whispered by a half-eaten corpse my ear is ever open to the mysteries of night What the hand of flesh erases its brother paints again what the dust of the land covers the cunning eye restores Be they glimpsed in a soothing spring or written on the dirt by tears of loss my sight is ever awake to the mysteries of night A forked stave reborn through the grave is raised up to the moon to draw down a kingly crown or the stone to slay the fool
Blood Acre 05:45
From the frozen black earth I crawled out like a moth drawn to the lantern of the brightest star was I Though the waters dark and the dew of dusk fell upon my wounded tongue the thirst still remained The merciless gods of white fire came to me with nails of flame and with my last strength I handed them the hammer Mounted on a steed of wind the ashes of this offering ride the reddened skies towards oblivion towards a new dawn The seed of the soul to the plot in the east the plea of the heart to the sun in the south the fruit of the work to the scythe in the west the loaf of my life to the lord in the north
The poem of ancient steps across the pages of an unseen book is for me to read and re-write with my own cloven hoof Once the wind has claimed my secrets and the earth my ripened flesh my beating heart is offered to Hell's unsparing winepress To quench the thirst of bards unborn to anoint the bones of future lore to wash away what was penned before and make the shroud of secrecy fall The beauty of an empty canvas the stone left unturned the all-possible in the forsaken the key in wisdom lost
Upon a sturdy rock we built our temple with silk we covered its walls from the finest marble we fashioned an altar and adorned it with gold We sang carefully crafted hymns and filled the space with incense smoke yet upon the emerald pedestal the throne remained empty We prayed by night we prayed by day we dreamt asleep and awake Eventually the songs ceased the altar was overturned our temple fell to rubble and we were lost in the desert Tortured by the sun Freezing under the stars Abandoned by all but ordeal Our hearts were shaped anew There, in the seeming nothingness surrounded by the silent darkness we finally saw our god all around us and gave praise to his blessings
